Why have I created a website called Cosmetic Surgery Nottingham and how can it help you?

Well, I wanted to create a resource blog to help people out if they are looking for advice for upcoming cosmetic surgery procedures or just to help you out if you are interested in learning more about procedures such as breast enlargement, weight loss surgery, rhinoplasy, breast reduction, teeth whitening or even a simple tummy tuck.

I am not a cosmetic surgeon, I don’t own a cosmetic surgery and I am not here to offer anything other than completely impartial advice for anyone looking for good cosmetic surgery in the East Midlands area of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

I have been considering some cosmetic surgery myself recently and have had some experience with looking for a good cosmetic surgery clinic and this is why I have created  this Cosmetic Surgery Nottingham blog.

Before you start looking at which treatment you need I would suggest heading over to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons who are an independent body who provide a huge list of resources for you to look at. They also explain a lot of the common treatments in great detail and I would consider this a vital part of your research before seeing a cosmetic surgery specialist.

Learning The Lingo

These cosmetic surgeons are a funny bunch and there is a whole foreign language you will need to get used to if you are planning on getting a lovely new you. A boob job to you and me is suddenly referred to as breast augmentation, a nose job becomes rhinoplasty, a simple tummy tuck is an abdominoplasty and the list goes on. The most important thing is to not be intimidated by the medical jargon – it is just the way they talk.

What to Look For In A Cosmetic Surgery Clinic

Here at cosmetic surgery Nottingham, I would like to point out the importance of choosing the right cosmetic surgeon for your particular needs. There are many private clinics which offer an excellent service.

The first piece of advice I would offer is not to consider going for your cosmetic surgery abroad. If you are from Nottingham, or the Nottinghamshire are then it makes sense to find a Nottingham based clinic.  There are just too many unregulated clinics overseas which do shoddy work and you could end up being scarred for life. There are plenty of reputable clinics which are regulated by the Care Quality Commission in and around Nottingham and you want to be close to home so you don’t need to travel far for your consultations and your loved ones can visit you easily. You also want your Hubby to be able to visit you to give you some tlc when you need it.

Common Procedures

Breast Enlargement

The most commonly performed cosmetic treatments are breast enlargement. This is so common now days that there are very few risks associated with it as long as you find a good clinic and you can check that they have a specialist surgeon available you does regular breast enlargements. It has been found that the more surgery a clinic does in a certain field the better they perform. You may also want a breast reduction of course, and most cosmetic surgery clinics will offer this as an option.

Facelift

Another common treatment is a face lift. Many people have unsightly wrinkles (caused by old age, sun damage, smoking etc) or drooping and saggy skin that they would love to have tightened up. A full facelift can lift your entire face and make you look much younger, although many people opt for specific areas such as the neck, forehead or lower face. Many clinics report that a facelift can take up to 10 years off your perceived age.

Rhinoplasty

More commonly known as a nose job this is another popular cosmetic treatment and one that is commonly performed in Nottingham. Rhinoplasty can be performed under both general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic depending on the amount, and type, of surgery being undertaken. You can normally expect your nose to be bandaged for up to a week before you are ready to unveil your whole new you!

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is becoming more and more popular as a long term solution to unsightly and unwanted hairiness on the body – for both men and women. It acts as a permanent removal and can be performed over large areas of the skin. We would like to point out that clinics will often say that the treatment will often work best on people with light skin but funnily enough, with dark hair. A trained laser hair removal consultant will talk you through what results you can expect before the treatment commences though.

Liposuction

Liposuction is the act of draining unwanted fat from the body. The most popular areas are the thighs and buttocks although it is not limited to these areas and it can also be performed on the abdomen (belly) as well as the back of the arms. This is a safe, quick procedure which many people report great results for. Here at Cosmetic Surgery Nottingham we would like to point out that it is a good idea for you to be as fit as possible and not to be a heavy smoker if you are thinking about undertaking Liposuction.

Although cosmetic surgery clinics are not strictly regulated there are many important things we recommend you can do to ensure that you are in good hands.

The first thing to know is that while the individual clinic does not need any statutory certificates to open for business the individual cosmetic surgeons most certainly do. They have to be a qualified surgeon (just like a heart surgeon) and they will need specialised certificates to practise the type of cosmetic surgery they perform. As long as you check out their certification and medical qualifications and make sure they are registered with the British Medical Council you should feel secure in the knowledge that they have the right qualifications. If you ask a surgeon for his or her qualifications and they don’t want to give them to you then this would serve as a massive red light. Any reputable cosmetic surgeon is proud of their qualifications and more than happy to share them with you.

Qualifications to look out for are MRCS or FRCS which indicate that the surgeon is member (or fellow) of the Royal College Of Surgeons.
If, in addition to these letters are their name, they also have FRCS (Plast) you know you are in especially capable hands as they have had additional and extensive training specifically related to cosmetic surgery. This is often a good indication that the surgeon has been practising for a good length of time and has added the necessary training and skills to their repertoire.
For added peace of mind look at the British Association of Aesthetic Platic Surgeons for further impartial advice and you can also double check that the clinic has filed their annual safety audit.
Asking your surgeon, or cosmetic surgery clinic, for referrals is also an excellent way of reassuring you that they have a good reputation. A successful clinic will have a large list of satisfied “clients” and will be more than happy to show you the testimonials. No referrals should mean stay clear.

At the initial consultation you will also be able to get a good feel for how the surgeon appears to be qualified. Are they asking about your medical history, are they explaining the procedure fully in language you can understand, have they conveyed the risks properly to you?

I have decided to include this helpful cosmetic surgery article on my site in case you would rather look at non surgical alternatives to get your skin looking younger. I hope you find it helpful.

by: Wendy Wilken

There are numerous ways to obtain a younger looking skin via natural facelift techniques. We explore these natural facelift methods in better detail which can usually be divided into internal and external factors in your younger looking skin aspirations.

As we grow older, our skin doesn’t look so young anymore. The sun, gravity, exposure to free radicals, stress, and of course “father time”, leaves our skin baggy and wrinkled. Fatty deposits grow in places we don’t want them to be, and each day we look in the mirror, we feel that we are losing the battle to keep that younger looking skin.

Maybe it is time to conduct your own facelift using cheap, but effective methods. For those who don’t know, a natural facelift means looking younger via non-surgical ways.

Internal factors:

1. To assist your regimen, eating the right foods that are rich in the Vitamin C, E, and D groups are important for a healthy skin. Also try to add more fruits, coconut water, and nuts to your diet. Drink more water. This rids the body of toxins, resulting in a younger looking skin.

2. Avoidance is also an important tactic for a younger looking skin. Try reducing or abstaining from coffee, tea, smoking, and alcohol.

3. And yes, have more sex! As natural facelift therapy, orgasms result in a softer, more colorful and younger looking complexion. Need I say more?

4. Meditation or yoga is great relief against stress, which results in a younger looking skin.

5. Get more sleep.

External factors:

1. Avoid the sun as much as possible as this causes wrinkles, and can damage the skin on your face and neck, thereby hampering your efforts.

2. Try getting more exercise by walking more, or going to a gym. Exercise is proven to be excellent for skin.

3. Apply an anti-wrinkle cream, containing ingredients like alpha hydroxy acid at night before you sleep. It really goes a long way to a natural facelift.

4. Use amino acid creams during the day which help in maintaining collagen and elasticity in the skin. Use these in combination with other natural facelift methods.

5. Try a natural facelift with micro-current stimulation therapy. This method entails a tiny current going through the skin and underlying face and neck tissue, which rejuvenates the skin and improves blood circulation. After a few treatments, a younger looking skin is inevitable.

6. Undergo thermage or laser facelift treatment for a younger looking skin. Radio waves and laser beams heat the collagen in the skin, which results in firmer skin. These methods are more effective as preventative measures to aging, and should be used at the first onset of fine wrinkles.

7. The application of face masks on a regular basis is an excellent natural facelift technique, because face masks absorb toxins in the skin and add nutrients, leaving a more radiant, firmer skin tone.

8. To maintain a younger looking skin, have regular facials at the beauty salon once you’re over 30 years old.

9. Learn a program of facial exercises. This will exercise the skin, underlying muscles, and improve blood flow to the face and neck. Facial exercises are excellent for a younger looking skin, because they firms the skin, smooth wrinkles, and get rid of unsightly eye bags. Your fingertips are excellent instruments for a natural facelift.

A younger looking skin doesn’t always have to be obtained by surgery. A natural facelift is cheaper, less traumatic to the skin, has permanent benefits, and is under the control of the individual. There are so many natural facelift techniques to choose from, and they will all result in a younger looking skin!
